Journalist: David Duchovny, thank you
for being here with us for this broadcast. How is it that the X-Files movie
is different from the television series? [starts to ask the question in english]
Duchovny: [laughs] No, no, it's okay,
I understood that one! ... I think that the challenge of the film, was for
it to be equally interesting for the series' fans as well as for those who
had never heard of it. You can enter into [the world of] this film no problem,
and appreciate it, even if you've never heard of Mulder or Scully or the
X-Files, or if you aren't interested in extraterrestrials and all that stuff.
[film clips]
Duchovny: I don't believe that the
politicians above us are hiding things from us that we are ignorant of, but
for me, the most interesting question has always been, "if extraterrestrials
had really made contact with us, what would be the motive in hiding it? It
would be the most marvellous event in our history: why would we want to hide
it?"
[film clips]
Journalist: Nothing sexual ever happens
between you two. One day, will you ever want to kiss Scully?
Duchovny: Do you mean personally speaking?
No, no, really! [laughs] I'm sure that it's an eventuality that Mulder would
detest equally. If he had that idea floating around in his head, for five
years, he would have done it already! This is what pleases me about Mulder:
he dreams about little green men, not about Scully.
