I was listening to the radio here in Vancouver (where the X-Files is filmed,
er, was filmed... you get the idea) when local DJ Pam Stevens decided to
call DD with his home phone number. She said she was slipped his number sometime
ago and was just waiting for the right moment to call. I guess she figured
she'd better call before he left town!
She got David on the line, and it turned out she had an old number. Don't
ask me how she got a hold of him! She gave out the last four digits of his
old number. Can't remember it though. Apparently, she got his machine before.
Anyways, she asked him what he had in his CD player. David said he was listening
to Bob Dylan right now. He also said he uses music to get him into the right
moods. He listens to something to death and then moves onto something new.
Ms. Stevens then asked DD about the Travellers ep. She thought the ring might
have been an oversight in continuity. David replied it was actually his idea
to have Mulder smoking and wearing a wedding band. As he puts it, he wanted
to give Mulder a wife that he never ever would talk about. A mystery of sorts
I guess. He said that it might provide some stories later on for "X-Files
: The Next Generation". So he didn't indicate directly about it being mentioned
in the movie.
The DJ then asked DD if he was hoping for a boy or a girl. DD countered with
'she's not pregnant'. He said that he would need to be in LA for that to
happen. For his sake, I hope that's true. He mentioned that he would feel
bad if he left her pregnant back in LA.
Of course, they had to talk about the show leaving. So Pam asked him if he
would come back to Vancouver for the movie premiere. He said he hadn't thought
about it, but he thought it would be a good idea if the Vancouver crew could
go see the movie with him for the premiere. As he put it, the movie would
not have been made without the hard work and dedication from the Vancouver
crew.
David then wanted to mention some nice things about the city and the crew.
He said that Vancouver was a great city and even though the show is moving,
he'll always have a part of him here. He had more nice things to say about
the people of this city. He genuinely wanted to speak to the people of Vancouver.
He was almost consoling in manner. In the end, he said it was time to move
on and back home. He said that the show might change its look, which might
be a bad thing. We'll see about that David.... :(
Ultimately, he agreed that Vancouver is the best place to shoot the show.
Glad to see he's on the same wavelength with CC.
The DJ then said DD was welcome to come back anytime and she'd try to score
him some Grizzlies tickets. And that was it...
