Téa on the set of "The Family Man" March 2, 2000
Steve Kmetco: Téa Leoni stars opposite Nicolas Cage in the romantic comedy
Family Man. It's Leoni's first acting job since having a baby last year and
Linda Grasso visited Téa on the set. They talked about her many roles on
screen, at home with David Duchovny, and the part she's about to play on her
hubby's hit show.
[Téa films a scene on a kitchen set in which she yells at Jack played by
Nicolas Cage]
Linda Grasso: You'd be yelling too if your husband woke up one morning and
forgot he was married to you. That's what happens to Téa Leoni with Nicolas
Cage in Family Man, but Téa insists it's not as dysfunctional as it sounds.
[TL and LG sit in directors' chairs. Téa wears jeans, white T, blue flannel
shirt]
TL: They have this relationship, Jack and Kate, that's something that any
normal couple might aspire towards.
LG: As for her aspirations, Téa seems to have it all. [DD & TL at FtF party]
She's been married for nearly three years to X-Files actor David Duchovny, and
last year the couple had their first child. [DD &TL at FtF premiere]
TL: I had this idea that "Oh in Hollywood it's great because you can have your
baby with you and they come to set and you can have toys in the trailer and
just be a little mini home away from home." And it's just not that easy in
fact.
LG: Are you enjoying it though? Is motherhood what you thought it would be?
TL: Oh yeah! ...no, I mean it's not what I thought. You have no idea. It's
a huge surprise... ...Then we come home and do things together with her...and
he races home - I know he races home. You know...the bath time, we're both in
there for the bath time if we can be.
LG: When this production wraps Téa plans to head back to TV.
TL[to camera]: I don't know how much I'm supposed to really talk about this
so...
LG: OK, so we'll tell ya. [M&S scene] She'll soon guest star on The X-Files
in an episode David wrote and will direct.
TL: It'll be really fun because I get to...he has...the director gets a little
trailer so I get his trailer, and I'll have the baby there so then we'll be all
the family together on the same set.
LG: In LA, I'm Linda Grasso for E! News.
[TL waves goodbye]
SK: If this trailer's rocking, don't bother... [Jules Asner laughs] Look for
Téa Leoni and Nicolas Cage in Family Man due out in December.
