The interview is
at the same press interviews done for all the other shows so David and Minnie
are wearing the same as they are in the Movie Nights interview. Minnie is
wearing the purple top she was on TFI and David is wearing the dark blue shirt
from Big Breakfast. Anna Richardson introduces.
AR: Anna Richardson MD: Minnie Driver
DD: David
Duchovny
AR: Minnie Driver talks to us
about her new romantic comedy 'Return to Me'.
[a short section
of the trailer is played.]
MD: People fall in lover all the
time and it's incredibly romantic and strange things happen to the, how do you
do that without it being annoying and unbelievable?
DD: It was kind of an
interesting challenge to me, to reclaim some kind of innocence and some kind of,
you know, lack of cynicism with romance, or with the world, or anything like
that.
MD: You definitely have to leave
cynicism at the door with it, I think.
[Dance clip but
voiceover]
AR: Not to mention you're common
sense because RTM definitely requires a healthy dose of imagination. You know
the story: Boy meets girl, love blossoms, then boy finds out girl has his dead
wife's heart. Cheery stuff.
DD: The fairytale aspect is
what, kind of what, makes it's a classic love story, in the old fashioned sense,
but I think what makes it very interesting to me is that..the humour in it is
kinda rougher than you'd imagine in an old fashioned movie.
['Would you go
with me?' Clip, with the clip ending with Bob saying: You're a very difficult
woman..']
AR: Also a very content one.
[Outtake clips, unfortunately no sound as voiceover]
Since hopping it
to Hollywood, Minnie hasn't looked back. But leaving London wasn't necessarily
in the script.
MD: I left because I couldn't
get work here. I'm not kidding. You'll have to have a word with all those
directors and tell them to stop mucking about and give me a
job.
AR: Ok, so London will always be
her true home but what does she miss most?
MD: I miss the place, you know,
I'm from that place. I miss the telly, I miss the pub, my friends and my family
the most of all, but I come back. I come back about every six
weeks.
AR: And that gives us all heart.
RTM is absurd but that's what makes it so entertaining, so expect the unexpected
and you won't be disappointed.
DD: It's really a unique kinda
film, and I think that if you except it on it's term, you'll have a great time.
It's a great world to be in for two hours in the dark.
